UK environmental groups to sue the Treasury

July 13th, 2009

Three Bristish based environmental groups involved in campaigns against the root causes of climate change, People & Planet, World Development Movement (WDM) and Platform, are taking the British Treasury to court,  a Judicial Review to stop the now 70% state owned Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) investing in projects which are linked to climate change, environmental destruction and human rights violations.  The groups argue that the government has failed to do a proper assessment of the way RBS-NatWest runs its business.  Find out more by visiting this page at P&P’s web site.

The high energy demands of the massive data centres needed to store all our information are of growing concern to both the government and industry. But how can they be made greener and more efficient? Costing the Earth investigates.
